Classic Hotels part of the Chicago Experience

In a March 19, 2006 article mlive, a Michigan online newspaper ran an article on the grand hotels of Chicago's past. Each built in the 1920's boom and before the age of glass and steel these hotels offer a nostalgic rendezvous with a golden age.

    Drake Hotel Chicago
"The grande dame of Chicago hostelries, commands a prime location at the top of North Michigan Avenue's 'Magnificent Mile.'"

    Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel
"Just across Walton Place from the Drake is Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago. Built in 1927 as the fashionable Davis Hotel, the 14-story property has been reinvented several times and today gleams with a classic, European-style splendor."

    Palmer House Hilton
"Chicago's oldest hotel, Palmer House Hilton, lies in the heart of the Loop's State Street shopping district, an easy walk to theaters, Millennium Park and the Art Institute of Chicago."

    Hilton Chicago
"The imposing Hilton Chicago, overlooking lakefront Grant Park, has occupied an entire city block in the South Loop since it was built in 1927 as the 3,000-room Stevens Hotel, then the world's largest hotel."
